⚾ Elsewhere Around the League
Red Sox 5, Orioles 3
The Red Sox kicked off the Chad Tracy era with a series win in Baltimore, riding 6 2/3 strong innings from rookie Connelly Early. Boston created offense with four stolen bases, a Ceddanne Rafaela triple and a two-run homer from Willson Contreras.
Braves 6, Phillies 2
Chris Sale looked nasty again, striking out nine over six scoreless innings while picking up his 150th career win. Matt Olson set the tone with a three-run homer before the Phillies recorded an out, and Sale’s huge strikeout of Bryce Harper with the bases loaded kept Atlanta in control.
Blue Jays 4, Guardians 2
Toronto’s bullpen reset passed another test as Louis Varland worked around traffic in the ninth to earn his third save. Jesús Sánchez provided the big swing with a two-run homer in the sixth, while Yohendrick Pinango picked up his first career hit in his MLB debut.
Tigers 8, Reds 3
Spencer Torkelson stayed scorching hot, homering for the fifth straight game to tie the Tigers’ franchise record. His seventh-inning blast gave Detroit insurance and put him alongside some pretty serious company in Tigers history.
Rays 4, Twins 2
The Rays finished off their third sweep of the season behind a strong opener outing from Griffin Jax and steady work from the bullpen. Jonathan Aranda delivered a two-run single and Yandy Díaz added a two-run opposite-field homer as Tampa Bay won its fourth straight.
Nationals 2, White Sox 1
Foster Griffin gave the Nationals exactly what they needed, throwing seven scoreless innings with a career-high eight strikeouts in their second straight 10-inning win. José Tena broke the scoreless tie with a pinch-hit homer in the 10th, and Paxton Schultz earned his first career save.

Brewers 5, Pirates 0
Kyle Harrison was ridiculous, striking out a career-high 12 over six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. Milwaukee’s five-run fourth was more than enough to snap its four-game skid and avoid the sweep.
Mariners 3, Cardinals 2

Athletics 2, Rangers 1
The A’s bullpen carried the day after J.T. Ginn exited early, piecing together 5 2/3 strong innings to hold off Texas. Justin Sterner escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the sixth, and Jack Perkins closed it out as the A’s clinched the series.
Dodgers 6, Cubs 0

Rockies 3, Mets 1
The Rockies grabbed Game 1 of the doubleheader behind Jose Quintana’s best start with Colorado, as he held the Mets to one run over 5 1/3 innings. Colorado broke through in the sixth, then got a big bullpen escape from Jaden Hill with the bases loaded before Victor Vodnik closed it out.
Rockies 3, Mets 0
Colorado finished off the doubleheader sweep behind seven shutout innings from Chase Dollander, who struck out seven in his first start of the season. Hunter Goodman added the big swing with a two-run homer as the Rockies completed their first sweep of the Mets since 2018.
