Braves 6, Royals 2 — Smith delivers emotional walk-off slam in wild ninth
The Braves were down to their final outs and trailing late, but the ninth inning turned into chaos. Mike Yastrzemski got things started with an RBI single, then Michael Harris II tied it up with another knock that deflected and found grass.
With the bases loaded, Dominic Smith stepped in and crushed a walk-off grand slam to right, capping a five run inning and sending the Braves crowd into a frenzy. It was his first game with Atlanta, and easily one of the most emotional swings of the night.
Before that, the Royals had controlled most of the game behind a strong start from Michael Wacha and a solo shot from Salvador Perez, but once the ninth inning got rolling, they had no answer.

Mets 4, Pirates 2 — Robert delivers walk-off blast in extras for first Mets homer
The Mets didn’t get much going offensively for most of the day, but they kept finding a way to stay in it. After falling behind in the 10th, Luis Torrens came through with a game-tying single to keep New York alive and force another inning.
The Pirates grabbed the lead again in the 11th on an RBI single from Bryan Reynolds, putting the pressure right back on the Mets. This time, New York answered with a walk from Jorge Polanco, setting the table for Luis Robert Jr. in the biggest spot of the game.
Robert got a pitch down in the zone and launched it out to left-center for a three run walk-off homer, giving the Mets their second straight win to open the season. It was his first homer with New York, and it ended a cold afternoon for the lineup in one swing.
The pitching was good enough to keep this one within reach the whole way. David Peterson gave the Mets 5.1 scoreless innings, and even with the extra-inning traffic, the staff didn’t allow an earned run all game.

Blue Jays 8, Athletics 7 — Clement sends Blue Jays home winners again in extras
The Blue Jays looked dead in the water when Shea Langeliers blew the game open with a grand slam in the seventh, but they kept chipping away and never let it get away from them. Jesús Sánchez and Andrés Giménez helped bring them back in the eighth, then Alejandro Kirk tied it with a solo homer in the ninth to give Toronto another shot.
The Athletics grabbed the lead again in the 10th on an RBI single from Brent Rooker, but the Blue Jays answered right back. Addison Barger brought home the tying run with a sac fly, and that was enough to push things one inning further.
That set the stage for Ernie Clement in the 11th. With Nathan Lukes coming around from second, Clement lined a walk-off single into left-center and gave the Blue Jays their second straight walk-off win to open the season.
It took a full team effort to get there. Dylan Cease was dominant early, Kirk came through with the big swing late, and Spencer Miles delivered a clean inning in his MLB debut to keep the game in place for the offense.

Cardinals 6, Rays 5 — Wetherholt comes through again with first career walk-off
The Cardinals looked like they had this one under control for most of the afternoon. Michael McGreevy was dominant early and didn’t allow a hit over six innings, while St. Louis built a 4-0 lead heading into the ninth.
The Rays stormed back with a three run ninth, tied it on a two-out RBI single from Nick Fortes, then grabbed the lead in the 10th on a run-scoring hit from Yandy Díaz. After all that, the Cardinals still had one more answer left.
With runners on second and third in the bottom of the 10th, JJ Wetherholt wasted no time and ripped a walk-off single to right field to bring home both runs. Two games into his big league career, he already has a debut homer and now a walk-off hit.
