Editor’s Note: If there’s one thing you need to watch today, it’s the Cardinals-Cubs game from Saturday, specifically Yohel Pozo’s massive homer late. In a big-time rivalry game, he came off the bench and delivered an absolute bomb. Link to the home run is just below here, full game highlights are recapped farther down. I honestly think I’ve watch this at least 20 times so far. I love this guy for what he represents and everything he gives to his team.

If you're not familiar with Yohel Pozo’s story (Full Article Here), it’s one of the most incredible in baseball. Just a few years ago, he and his young family were homeless, living out of a car while caring for a son recovering from a pediatric stroke. Through it all, Pozo never gave up and now he’s delivering clutch home runs on one of baseball’s biggest stages.

📊 Final Scores and Highlights

Blue Jays 4, Angels 3 (F/10)
Editor’s Note: The Blue Jays are must-see right now. They’ve been on fire during this winning streak, and it feels like they’re hitting their stride at just the right time. I’m excited to see how this AL East race unfolds over the next few months.

The Blue Jays won their seventh straight game in dramatic fashion Saturday, outlasting the Angels 4–3 in 11 innings at Rogers Centre. Addison Barger delivered the game-winning hit — a sharp RBI single — as Toronto continues to surge behind a red-hot George Springer, who crushed his 16th homer of the season and now has five in his last five games.

🔑 Key Moments:

  • George Springer opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the third, launching a 97 mph sinker to dead center at 109 mph off the bat. He’s now up to 16 home runs and 10 stolen bases before the break — joining rare company among age-35+ players.

  • After the Angels tied it 3–3, the game moved into extras. In the bottom of the 11th, Leo Jiménez came in as a pinch-runner and reached third. That set the stage for Barger, who punched a walk-off single to right to end it.

  • Lazaro Estrada, called up for bullpen depth, unexpectedly pitched four critical innings of one-run ball and even struck out Mike Trout during his outing.

  • Max Scherzer allowed two runs over four innings, and Braydon Fisher sealed it with two scoreless frames to earn the win.

The Mets stayed red hot behind another Brandon Nimmo grand slam and a two-homer game from Pete Alonso, thumping the Yankees 12–6 at Citi Field for their fourth straight win. Nimmo’s slam — his second in four days — jump-started a relentless Mets offense that piled up 12 runs on 10 hits, marking their third double-digit scoring game of the season.

🔑 Key Moments:

  • Brandon Nimmo crushed a grand slam in the first inning off Carlos Rodón, giving him three slams this season — the most by a Met since 2006 — and five total RBIs in his last two games.

Mariners 1, Pirates 0

Luis Castillo (highlights here) delivered his best outing of the season, striking out eight over seven scoreless innings to lead the Mariners to a 1–0 win over the Pirates on Saturday at T-Mobile Park. Backed by a sharp fastball and a whiff-heavy slider, Castillo allowed just two singles and no walks across 99 pitches.

Seattle scored the game’s only run in the sixth inning when Jorge Polanco doubled and came around on Ben Williamson’s RBI hit.

🔑 Key Moments

  • Castillo averaged 96 mph on his sinker and 95.7 on his four-seamer, generating seven strikeouts on his fastballs and six whiffs on his slider.

  • In a 99-pitch gem, Castillo retired the final 10 batters he faced, punctuating his night by freezing Oneil Cruz with a fastball to end the seventh.

  • The Astros answered with four runs in the 3rd, sparked by Zack Short’s two-run double and RBI singles from Cam Smith and Christian Walker.

  • Jose Altuve led off the 8th with his first triple of the season and scored on a sac fly from Victor Caratini to add a key insurance run.

🔑 Key Moments:

  • Alec Burleson launched a solo homer to straightaway center to spark the Cardinals’ five-run 8th-inning rally, trimming the deficit to one.

  • Back-to-back singles by Thomas Saggese and Lars Nootbaar kept the pressure on, setting the table for Nolan Gorman, who tied the game with an opposite-field RBI single. It was Gorman’s second run-scoring hit of the day, following a 420-foot solo shot in the 4th.

  • With two outs and two on, Yohel Pozo came off the bench and crushed a 419-foot go-ahead homer off Brad Keller, sending it over the bleachers and onto Waveland Avenue. The emotional blast marked Pozo’s third game-winning RBI this season.
